More than half of people with mental illness also have a co-occurring substance use disorder. Didi Hirsch offers integrated substance use and mental health services for teens and adults. Services include assessment, prevention and treatment services for individuals who meet program requirements.
We are Licensed by the State Department of Health Care Services.
Prevention
This program seeks to prevent alcohol and drug related problems in youth up to age 25 through a broad range of public education, skill-building, mentorship, and community intervention activities. We accomplish our prevention goals by focusing on increasing individual, family and community resilience.

Outpatient Treatment
We provide individual, family, and group outpatient services to adolescents and adults struggling with drug, alcohol, and other substance use issues. Our program focuses on family intervention and uses coaching, anger management and goal setting to help clients address their substance use problems.

Assessment
Didi Hirsch operates a Los Angeles County Client Engagement and Navigation Services (CENS) where qualified adults can be assessed and referred drug and alcohol treatment. CENS can assist with establishing benefits and referrals to other community resources.

Mother/Child Residential
At Didi Hirsch’s Via Avanta program, women struggling with mental health and substance use issues can live with their children up to age six while receiving residential treatment up to 6 months in a safe and supportive communal living environment. The program also provides employment readiness, parenting skills and health services.

Project 50
Didi Hirsch substance use counselors are part of the Project 50 team that provides permanent housing and other services to the most vulnerable homeless people in downtown Los Angeles. Started as a pilot project in 2007 to target the 50 most vulnerable homeless people in downtown Los Angeles, the county-funded program now provides about 75 residents with safe housing, access to medical and psychiatric care, and other social services.
